Letterland – Successfully teaching your child to read and write

Letterland is a unique, phonics based approach to teaching, reading, writing and spelling for 3-8 year olds. Letterland provides a link between letter sounds and letter shapes.

At Sweetland Road Early Learning Centre we believe it is essential that our preschool children are given a solid foundation in phonics before moving to primary school. Letterland helps to build this foundation in a unique play based way.

Kinderdance

Kinderdance is the original nationwide dance, motor development, gymnastics, and fitness program that combines academic readiness skills which are specifically designed for children ages 2 to 12.

What makes Kinderdance unique is that all of our programs incorporate educational concepts in a developmentally designed curriculum that teaches to the total child. We place special emphasis on building “Self Confidence” and “Self-Esteem” in young children. A Happy Child Is A Joy To Behold!

Anyone who has ever watched a child jump for joy when a parent comes home knows intuitively that small children express their feelings with movement as well as words. For preschool age children, movement, music and dance can be natural tools for learning as well as expressing. Influential child psychologists and educators like Piaget and Montessori agree that a planned developmental program in movement should be part of every child’s education. And since early childhood education is the foundation for higher education, how a preschool child learns to learn will have a lasting influence throughout his or her school years.

Jitterbugs

Jitterbugs is a program which enables children to develop their creative abilities, use their imagination, gain an understanding of rhythm, increase co –ordination and improve self confidence.

Using age appropriate music, movement songs, games and props, Jitterbugs sessions emphasis the fun of movement and Music.

Through movement children are able to tune their fine and gross motor skills and further develop such skills as concentration, listening to directions, working together in a group and waiting their turn, whilst they are simply having fun!

Sweetland Road Early Learning Centre Box Hill offer quality childcare in Box Hill catering for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Our Box Hill childcare centre manager Claire encourages a day care environment that makes the children feel safe whilst enjoying the freedom to express themselves as individuals.
